I’ve talked a lot about the importance of covers, how they help authors make sales, and how important they are to readers. I’ve also discussed how in important it is to refresh book covers from time to time.
And after some careful thought, I decided to change the covers of my Billionaires of Palm Beach series. Four books, four new book covers. Luckily, I work with a graphic designer I really love, and I think she came up with some fantastic designs.
Here was the old cover for the first book in the series, LUSTING FOR LUKE:
Here is the new cover:
All four books now are now in alignment with the new style, including the block font and the yellow color. To me, the new cover also fit with current trends in the “billionaire romance” genre. Here’s a quick look at those: https://amzn.to/3taJYGo
After changing the books, I alerted my email subscriber list of the new covers, shared it on social media, and made sure the advertising I’m running on Facebook and Amazon is updated. Those are two platforms where I regularly advertise to readers, and I use other platforms beyond that as supplements to those places.
In January, this series sold 57 copies.
That’s far below where this series should be based on market interest, advertising, reader trends, reviews, and more. The potential to increase those sales in February is there, and I am hopeful the new covers will help this happen. After all, LUSTING FOR LUKE has been in the market since 2017, and the old design was feeling a bit stale. The rest of my catalog did much better during January, including the surprise that my holiday romance still performed well with readers despite the holiday season being long over.
I think my billionaire romance series can find new interest in the market. We will see.
I’ll update this newsletter with results at the end of February…
